UP Round 1: fees, security and immediate actions
₹2,000 non-refundable
Register with your own mobile number and email. Select one nodal centre during registration for online document verification.
₹30,000 security
Pay through the official portal. Security money is separate from tuition and should be paid from the candidate's own bank account for refunds.
₹2,00,000 security
This amount also covers candidates who want to participate for both government and private medical seats.
₹1,00,000 security
The same ₹1,00,000 deposit applies when participating for government and private dental choices together.
Security money is not included in tuition. Save the registration-fee and security-payment receipts.
Upgrade or freeze?
Decide only after comparing the allotted college with every higher choice. An upgrade replaces the earlier seat; it does not keep both seats available.
AIQ, AIIMS, BHU, AMU, central and deemed routes
Round-by-round risk
- Round 1: free exit is permitted without security-deposit forfeiture.
- Round 2: choose Float to seek Round 3 upgradation. Non-joining or resignation can forfeit the security deposit; fresh payment may be required for Round 3.
- Round 3: an allotted seat requires physical reporting. No resignation is allowed after joining, and non-reporting causes forfeiture and elimination from later rounds.
- After any upgrade: the previous seat is automatically cancelled and cannot be reclaimed.
UP government, private and minority routes
The UP Round 1 instruction confirms free exit, security-refund and choice-locking rules. The 2026 UG brochure is not yet linked, so later-round upgrade, resignation and forfeiture rules still require a fresh UPNEET check.
Confirmed now versus still provisional
- Round 1 free exit: if an allotted candidate does not take admission, UPDGME says the security money will be refunded for government and private medical/dental seats.
- Choice locking: locking is mandatory. An unlocked choice list is excluded from allotment, and no change is allowed after locking.
- Later rounds: the 2025 brochure required joining in Round 2 and could forfeit security on non-joining; recheck this when the 2026 brochure or Round 2 notice appears.
- Upgrade: only list colleges you genuinely prefer because a successful upgrade releases the earlier admitted seat.
- Every choice above your current seat is truly preferable.
- You can afford the fees, bond, hostel and reporting travel.
- Your documents satisfy that college's quota and category rules.
- You accept that an upgraded seat permanently replaces the old one.

Select MCC, UP or both; then choose reservation, PwBD and nationality/NRI applicability.

Choice-filling workflow
- 1
Verify the live matrix
Confirm college, seat pool, category and round before ranking any choice.
- 2
Build preference—not cutoff—order
Put the college you genuinely want first. The system evaluates choices in order subject to merit and availability.
- 3
Use a wide ladder
Include aspirational, borderline, competitive and safer historical options plus financially suitable alternatives.
- 4
Save proof and check status
Keep payment receipts and locked choices. Recheck allotment, reporting and upgrade/resignation instructions directly.
Common mistakes to avoid
Entering category rank
This predictor and many result PDFs use AIR. Category rank can produce a dangerously wrong comparison.
Mixing MCC and UP cutoffs
An AIIMS or BHU closing rank is not a UP state-round cutoff, even though the campus is in Uttar Pradesh.
Checking tuition only
Hostel, security, miscellaneous charges, bond and refund rules can change affordability.
Depending on social media dates
Use official notices for every deadline and keep screenshots or PDFs of important instructions.
