PUBLIC METHODOLOGY · VERSION 5.2
Evidence before confidence.
This document explains what the predictor knows, how recommendations and choice preferences are ordered, and what remains unavailable.01Data coverage
The UP catalogue contains 88 MBBS institutions and 13,425 approved annual seats from the reconciled final NMC 2025–26 baseline. A separate national MCC set adds 428 public institutions selected because the official 2025 Round 1 final result recorded at least one All India/Open Seat MBBS allotment within AIR 1,000. Its displayed seat counts are the official MCC 2025 Round 1 pool—not each institution's full annual intake. The live 2026 matrix takes precedence when published. 580 source-labelled observations are loaded; missing cells stay visibly unrated.
02Historical fit—not probability
The predictor does not claim that a single previous cutoff creates an admission probability. It compares AIR with comparable loaded closing ranks and reports the number of observations matched.
SaferAIR is at least 15% inside the latest comparable loaded closing rank.
CompetitiveAIR is inside the latest comparable loaded closing rank, with less than 15% headroom.
BorderlineAIR is up to 10% beyond the latest comparable loaded closing rank.
OutsideAIR is more than 10% beyond the latest comparable loaded closing rank.
Evidence confidence: Limited means fewer than three comparable observations; Moderate requires at least three observations across two years; High requires at least six observations across three years.
03Recommendation score
The 0–100 recommendation score orders colleges for the selected profile. It combines historical fit with institution type and the candidate's chosen priority: balanced, affordability, clinical exposure or legacy. Budget preference can exclude deemed colleges or restrict results to public institutions.
This score is not an admission probability. It is a transparent decision-ranking aid. Every result displays the main reasons behind its score; eligibility, live seat availability, current fees and official allotment rules must still be checked independently.
04Choice-filling preference order
The downloadable choice list is deliberately independent of the candidate's AIR. It ranks every college allowed by the selected counselling route and budget using institution type, maturity, indicative fee burden and clinical-exposure signals, weighted by the candidate's chosen priority.
Preference order is not an official NIRF ranking. Historical fit remains visible as a separate warning, but an aspirational college is never removed merely because its previous cutoff was more competitive. Candidates should reorder the list according to their genuine preferences before locking choices.
05Evidence labels
- Official: linked directly to a government or statutory-authority publication.
- Compiled: transcribed or summarized from official counselling records, but direct row-level traceability is incomplete.
- Unavailable: deliberately blank; never silently estimated.
06Fees and clinical indicators
Fee ordering currently uses broad institutional fee bands. Exact tuition, hostel, security and miscellaneous charges are not claimed until college-level official values are transcribed. Clinical exposure is an editorial maturity/referral indicator—not a live OPD, IPD, bed-count or occupancy statistic.
